Innovative Fundraising... Priceless

September 14, 2020 - Trustee Hill is not new to fundraising, she's true to fundraising on behalf of CAU students. In 2020, the University was not able to do any of its major fundraisers because of COVID. No "Spirit of Greatness Gala". No "Jazz Under The Stars". There was not going to be a Homecoming. Alumna Hill noticed in late summer that no one from the University was asking alumni to give in spite of the crisis. She collaborated with her Class of '83 Classmates and suggested they use their annual Homecoming Mixer (usually held on Thursday night of Homecoming Week) as a fundraiser.

The ask would be to encourage alumni who were able to, if they would give a portion of what they would normally spend to attend Homecoming and help the University during the COVID crisis. This resulted in a "A Special Homecoming Appeal to All Alumni from the Class of '83". This appeal included the usual Newsletter, ask for alumni to join the alumni association, partnership with the Office of Institutional Advancement, social media campaign, and Virtual Fundraiser from the Class of '83. The Class of '83 is asking alumni to replace one or more of these expenses with support to these giving options:

Clark Atlanta University: $300

MRTC Foundation: $300

Beta Psi Foundation: $300

Class of '83 GAP Fund: $300

National Alumni Dues: $ 50
